Gathering held for returning pilgrims

Hundreds of Haj pilgrims attended the Gathering for the Haj Pilgrims of 1440H/2019 at the Bridex Banquet Hall in Jerudong yesterday.

The event was organised by the Haj Management Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) in collaboration with Haj package operators – Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd, Straits Central Agencies (B) Sdn Bhd, Raudah Al-Amin Sdn Bhd and At-Taqwa Travel Tours Sdn Bhd.

Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar was the guest of honour.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Haji Zilani bin Haji Bongsu.

Acting Director of Haj Management and ceremony chairman Haji Abdullah bin Haji Mohammad noted that the Haj Management Department strives to continuously improve its Haj management and services.

He said, questionnaires are distributed to all pilgrims for their feedback, and that postmortems are held with the Haj service package operators to determine if there are areas of service that need to be improved.

A religious talk on ‘Istiqamah’ was delivered by Haji Anwari bin Haji Rawe, an accredited Da’ie from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB), who was one of the Haj pilgrims.

The talk focussed on seeking blessings from Allah the Almighty, appreciating the Haj, self-reflection and the ‘mabrur’ Haj.

Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the four Haj operators, before a Dikir Marhaban was performed by the Haj Management Department personnel. The ceremony concluded with a Doa Selamat for the safe return of the Haj pilgrims.

The ceremony aimed to strengthen ties among the Haj pilgrims.

Deputy Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Brunei Darussalam Nawaf Ma’zi H Albadwi, Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Ra’es Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, directors, assistant directors, senior officials of MoRA and managing directors of Haj operating companies also attended.
