Brunei LNG and Baiduri Bank together have endowed scholarships to over 20 Bruneian startup founders and budding entrepreneurs to enable them to participate in the 2019 LBD Forum and Workshop today and tomorrow.
Participating in the event will allow these founders and managers to better understand key aspects of the digital age and gain insight on how their businesses could best navigate the changes these advances in technology bring.
Under the banner theme ‘How to Leverage the Digital Revolution,’ more than 180 business figures, corporate executives, and government officials have registered to discuss the business landscape in a digitising world, competing and winning as businesses embrace greater digitisation, and how to be resilient in the face of this unstoppable transformation.
The important vision and initiative for Brunei to become a Smart Nation and the benefits this journey will bring to business and society will be the main message of the opening keynote address by Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof as the guest of honour.
The minister’s address will be followed by perspectives on different topics from international and local speakers including Robert Schaffner – an author and expert on digital transformation; Chairman of Nusantara Technologies Dato’ Ghazali bin Dato’ Mohd Yussoff – a powerful speaker on developing a positive mindset; and Senior Vice President of Go-Jek and Head of Go-Life Dayu Dara Permata.
These speakers will be joined by a group of Brunei speakers and panellists, including industry leaders, thought leaders, local business founders, corporate figures and members of the academe who are participating and following developments along the journey in becoming a digital society.
Tomorrow, concurrent 2019 LBD workshops will train the Brunei LNG and Baiduri Bank scholars and other participants in two areas – ‘Digital Strategy to Transform Your Business’ and ‘Customer Experience for the Business of the Future,’ both led by experts and experienced thought leaders and trainers with a combined experience of more than 40 years in Southeast Asia and globally.
In awarding the certificates of scholarship to the recipients at the Brunei LNG Headquarters in Lumut, Human Resources, Communications and External Relations Manager Mizan Adiliah binti Haji Mohamad Deli remarked, “Brunei LNG, as one of the key players in the country’s largest economic sector, is very proud to contribute towards the creation of employment opportunities and economic diversification through entrepreneurship development. We are delighted that these young men and women have accepted our offer to take advantage of this training programme to further enhance their leadership and skillsets.”
The annual LBD programme is a flagship conference of Asia Inc Forum in partnership with Baiduri Bank as presenting partner, DARe (Darussalam Enterprise) as strategic partner, Progresif as industry partner, as well as Borneo Bulletin and Media Permata as print and digital media partner.
It is also supported by Brunei LNG, Recap and Dart Logistics.
