The Royal Thai Embassy in Brunei Darussalam hosted Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s (UBD) Sawadee Club’s annual get-together event at the embassy in Kampong Kiarong recently.
Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UBD Dr Joyce Teo Siew Yean was the guest of honour.
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam Wanthanee Viputwongsakul, in her welcoming address, said, “The embassy has actively supported UBD’s Sawadee Club’s activities since its establishment through funding and providing resources for activities,” she said.
She also added that with today’s increasingly digital world, social media is a powerful tool for information sharing and networking and with the launching of the UBD Sawadee Club’s Facebook page, it can provide platform for its members to share their experience and interact with each other and at the same time to attract more students to join activities of the club.
“The embassy will continue to support the club. We believe that youth play an important role in the society and in nation building, and has significant role in bridging relations between countries,” she said.
The event proceeded with performances including Muay Thai and Thai Cultural Dance known as the Circle Dance by the Sawadee Club members followed by a lucky draw session.
