The 3rd Paediatric Dental Symposium was held at the Theatre Hall of the Ministry of Finance and Economy at Commonwealth Drive, Jalan Kebangsaan yesterday.
The symposium carried the theme ‘The Interdisciplinary Dental Care of Paediatric Patient’.
Director General of Medical and Health Services at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Pengiran Dr Haji Md Khalifah bin Pengiran Haji Ismail was the guest of honour.
The symposium was jointly organised by the Paediatric Dental Unit, Orthodontic Unit and Oral Surgery Unit of the Department of Dental Services of the MoH Brunei Darussalam. The first two symposiums were held in 2013 and 2016.
The symposium aimed at providing participants with continuing professional development and to enable them to enhance and update their dental knowledge, as well as familiarise with multi-disciplinary care of paediatric patients.
The symposium featured three lectures. Paediatric Dental Consultant at the MoH Dr Hajah Wardati Sahimin binti Haji Yakob delivered her talk on ‘Normal and Abnormal Dental Development’, while Associate Specialist (Orthodontic) at the
MoH Dr Wizziyiane binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin delivered the second lecture on ‘Guidelines on the Management of Impacted Incisors and Canines’.
Associate Specialist (Oral Surgery) at the MoH Dr Hajah Mawarti binti Haji Emran presented the last lecture on ‘Presentation of Clinical Cases’.
The symposium was attended by about 180 participants mainly from the dental profession
including dental consultants, specialists, officers, nurses, hygienists and therapists.
The symposium was open for for dental staff from the MoH, the Ministry of Defence (MinDef), local private practitioners, dental students and other related professionals in the country.
