Day of celebration for 451 graduates

A total of 451 Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) graduates were celebrated at the Graduates’ Congratulatory Ceremony at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas yesterday.

Minister of Education and Chairman of UTB Council Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman was the guest of honour.

Deputy Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh and UTB Council members also participated.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat.

Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTB Haji Ady Syarmin bin Haji Md Taib underlined that the award recipients’ achievements made them exemplary students of UTB.

“I see you as UTB ambassadors, so continue to become outstanding people in all aspects. Your success in the future will also be our success as well,” he said.

The guest of honour presented awards to 30 graduates.

The award categories included the University Excellence Awards; Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Local Network Award; Institution of Mechanical Engineering Brunei Darussalam (IMechE-Brunei) Awards; Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) Brunei Prestige Award 2019 and 2020; Petrokon Utama Sdn Bhd (PUSB) Best Final Year Project Award; Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) Best Project Award and British Computer Society (BCS) Awards 2019.

As for the University Excellence Awards, the selected recipients were sponsored by 14 organisations comprising BIBD, Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA), Total E&P Borneo BV, Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru), BIBD At-Tamwil Berhad, Shiham Sdn Bhd, Baiduri Bank, Dynamik Technologies Sdn Bhd, Royal Brunei Technical Services (RBTS), DST Communications Sdn Bhd, Amec Foster Wheeler (B) Sdn Bhd, Jetwires Electrical & Technical Services Sdn Bhd, Indec Enterprise Sdn Bhd and Takaful Brunei Keluarga Sdn Bhd.
