Check prior to travel if Brunei’s driving licence recognised in host country

The Land Transport Department (JPD) would like to refer to the letter ‘Brunei’s International Driving Permit (IDP) not recognised in Japan’ by Marco Lim, published in the Opinion page of the Borneo Bulletin on September 4.

The Land Transport Department thanks the writer for sharing his concern and wish to inform that the department has been working closely with the relevant agencies to resolve the matter expeditiously.

JPD also wishes to inform the public that Brunei Darussalam’s Driving Licence is recognised and can be used to drive in some countries for a certain period without having to apply for an International Driving Permit.

Members of the public are advised to check on the requirement of the host country prior to their travels.

For any queries or clarifications, the writer as well as the public are welcome to visit any JPD branch or contact us at 2451980 ext 107 during working hours or email at [email protected] or contact Darussalam hotline 123 or WhatsApp +(673) 8333123 or email: [email protected]
