In a statement issued yesterday, the board said property owners who have not yet settled their claim of building tax for 2019 are advised to pay before December 31, 2019.
Payment can be made in cash, by credit card or by a crossed cheque under the name of the Government of Brunei Darussalam at Finance Division, Level 3, Municipal Board Building, Jalan Perdana Menteri, Bandar Seri Begawan.
The BSB Municipal Department also provides online building tax payment through mobile applications and Internet banking with Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) and Baiduri Bank Berhad.
“This notice is to notify that the claim of building tax for 2019 which contains the tax value of properties located with the area of BSB Municipal Board, is not exempted from payment of building tax,” the statement said.
Failure to settle the tax claim building will lead to legal action under the Municipal Boards Act Chapter 57.
It is the duty of the owners of the property or their successors to give notice in writing to the BSB Municipal Department in Jalan Perdana Menteri as soon as possible regarding any changes to the matters such as the death of the building owner, sold properties, transfer, vacant properties as well as change in mailing address.
