The Brunei Maritime Academy (BMA) welcomed an intake of 38 new students during an orientation ceremony at the BMA AV Room, Institute of Brunei Technical Education Jefri Bolkiah Campus (IBTE JBC) yesterday.

Twenty-four students are pursuing the Deck Rating Course, while the rest are pursuing the Engine Rating Course, both of which are conducted by the BMA.

The new intake familiarised themselves with each other and the campus facilities.

BMA student Syahruddien bin Salong delivered a safety briefing.

BMA Head of School Mohammad Iskandar bin Haji Jani advised the students to use the opportunity to work towards greater self-reliance and becoming highly disciplined, and to work as a team.

Following the recitation of the Students’ Oath led by senior BMA student Adie Norazlan bin Zulkifli, the new intake attended briefings on topics related to campus administration. They later helped clear the hostel’s surrounding area. The orientation will be held until September 28 and will include a host of briefings and activities.
