Bruneians interested in furthering their studies in the Republic of Korea can apply for the 2020 Global Korean Government Scholarship Programme (KGSP) for Undergraduate Degrees.

The objective of the scholarship programme is to provide higher education in Korea for international students, with the aim of promoting international exchange in education, as well as mutual friendship among participating countries.

A total of 125 students worldwide including one successful Bruneian candidate have the opportunity to study in Korea under the 2020 KGSP for Undergraduate Degree.

The scholarship benefits include full tuition and entrance fee exemption; return air ticket to and from Korea, monthly allowance, medical insurance, settlement and repatriation allowances.

The programme consists of a four-year undergraduate degree course after completing a one-year Korean Language training at institutes designated by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED).

The institution will be specified in the letter of invitation after the announcement of final successful candidates.

Scholars must attain a certain level on TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) as required by NIIED.

Scholars with level five or six on TOPIK will be exempted from the language programme and must begin their Bachelor’s Degree programme from March 2020.

Scholars who receive TOPIK level five or six during the first six months of the language programme may begin their degree programme in September 2020.

Applicants must submit the required documents to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Brunei Darussalam by October 18.
