Al-Quran reading competition participants feted

Thirty-four Qari and eight Qariah who scored 80 per cent and above during the Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults at District Level were selected to compete in the semi-final of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1441 Hijrah/2019.

The announcement was made during the prize presentation ceremony at Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong yesterday.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid @ Sabli bin Haji Arshad, the guest of honour, presented prizes and certificates of participation at the ceremony. This year, 66 participants comprising 54 males and 12 females participated in the competition at district level from September 24-26.

The competition was organised by the Imarah Division of Mosque Affairs Department, Mosque Affairs Offices in all four districts and the Takmir Committee members of Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque.

Among the competition’s objectives are to encourage and attract the public to improve their quality of reading Al-Quran, as well as to improve the participants’ skills and talents through Al-Quran reading competition.
