Abdul Hadi Muaiyyad bin Haji Azrol and Nur’Aliyah Amani binti Muhammad Al-Ameen from Al-Falaah School were named as the male and female champions at the finals of the 2nd Murattal Al-Quran Competition for Primary Schools Nationwide.
The competition was organised by the Department of Co-Curriculum Education, Ministry of Education, through its Spiritual Unit, competition took place at the Islamic Da’wah Centre yesterday.
Abdul Hadi Muaiyyad won the hearts of judges with his recitation of Surah Al-Baqarah verses 270 to 274 giving him 91 points while Nur’Aliyah Amani was given 88.5 points for her recitation of Surah Al-Israa’ verses 18 to 27.
Guest of honour, Acting Director of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri presented the prizes to winners.
Seven participants in each category represented government and private primary schools.
Mohammad Wafri bin Zulhairi of Puni Primary School was named first runner-up in the male category with his recitation of Surah Al-Anfaal verses nine to 16, while second runner-up winner Muhammad Fauzan Syahrimi bin Haji Muhd Aslenan of Sengkurong Primary School scored 77.5 points for his recitation of Surah Ali-Imran verses 149 to 153.
In the female category, Maisarah Al-Zahra binti Zawawi of Awang Haji Mohd Yusof Katimahar Primary School won second place with 76 points for her recitation of Surah Ar-Ra’d verses six to 13, while Nur Izz Ardini binti Helmy of Puni Primary School recited verses 62 to 68 of Surah At-Taubah took the third spot.
