Youth development issues under spotlight at Commonwealth meeting

After three days of careful deliberation on issues pertaining to youth development in Commonwealth countries, the Commonwealth Youth Senior Officials Meeting (Asia Region) concluded on Thursday.

On the final day of the meeting, four working papers delivered by representatives from the Commonwealth Secretariat and invited speakers from Brunei Darussalam were debated and discussed.

Among the issues shared were the involvement of youth in entrepreneurship, regional issues including contribution of youth in the economy as well as the plans for youth development.

Education Advisor from Social Policy Development of Commonwealth Secretariat Dr Amina Osman touched on the recognition of works of youth through diploma and degree in youth development work introduced in universities in Commonwealth countries.

Other issues raised were mainstreaming of youth in development planning, especially in changing the life of youth and involvement of youth in various fields.
