Workshop employee charged with stealing cable lugs

Deputy Public Prosecutor Hajah ‘Adzimah Mukarramah binti Haji Salleh pressed two charges against Muhammad Khairusy Syakirin bin Haji Sirat, 29, at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday for stealing 140 cable lugs from a company.

The first charge alleges the defendent who was employed as an electrical operator in the mechanical workshop of Western Foods and Packaging Sdn Bhd, of stealing 50 pieces of cable lugs at 3am on July 29, from the company site in the Serasa Industrial Area.

The second charge, drafted in a similar manner to the first, alleges Muhammad Khairusy Syakirin of having stolen 90 pieces of cable lugs at 3am on July 30.

Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid adjourned the case for further mention tomorrow, with the defendant ordered to remain in custody.

Both charges carry a penalty of seven years’ jail, a fine, or both.
