What it should have been

In our news item ‘JPD on the move to nab bad eggs’ published in the Weekend Bulletin, the sixth paragraph should have read, “From January until June 2019, nine drivers were issued compound fines and 12 Demerit Points for an offence of using mobile phones while driving in comparison with 10 drivers who committed the same offence last year. Under this offence, a driver can be fined BND200 for the first offence, BND400 for the second offence, while for the third offence will be brought before court under Section 29A Road Traffic Act, Chapter 68.”

Meanwhile, the seventh paragraph should have read “Two drivers were compounded BND150 and given nine Demerit SiKAP Points for an offence of failure to wear a seat belt while driving compared to 17 drivers committing the same offence last year. Under this offence, a driver can be fined BND150 for the first offence, BND300 for the second offence, BND500 for the third offence while for the fourth offence will be brought before court.”

The 10th paragraph should have read, “… a foreign driver of heavy vehicles was fined BND50 at Simpang 845 Kampong Jangsak on August 19 …”, while in the 12th paragraph, ‘Car rental and rental Licence’ should have been ‘Public Service Vehicle Licence’. The errors are regretted.
