Graduates of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) were celebrated in a Graduates’ Night ceremony in conjunction with the university’s 9th Hafl Al-Takharruj (Convocation Ceremony) at The Rizqun International Hotel last night.
Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman was the guest of honour. Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman was also present.
The annual event acknowledges outstanding graduates and students, with the objective of boosting their motivation levels and to inspire other students towards accomplishing UNISSA’s vision and mission.
A total of 50 recipients of medals and book prizes received their awards from the guest of honour, with the highest award being the University Medal given to four graduates who attained First Class Honours – Dewi Erika binte Samidi, Syazana Syafiqah Adilah binti Haji Mahdini, Syazana binti Hussain and Mohammad Bahauddin bin Haji Abu Bakar.
Nine book prizes award recipients were also acknowledged for their excellent academic achievements in different final year programmes. Meanwhile, 28 recipients of the book prizes were those who attained excellent academic achievements in other years apart from their final year.
Other book prizes award recipients include four from the Al-Quran (Arabic Stream) and Melayu Islam Beraja courses.
The event began with the recitation of Al-Quran verses by Bachelor of Usuluddin graduate Muhammad Syahirul Syafiq bin Rashid followed by a welcoming speech by Assistant Rector of UNISSA Dr Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani.
