St Angela’s School emerged as the winner of the Nationwide Explorace for Primary Schools 2019, after clocking in the fastest time among the four finalists.
In second place was Chung Hua Middle School, Kuala Belait, with Seri Mulia Sarjana School in Kampong Jangsak in third and Muda Hashim Primary School in fourth.
Held at the Katok ‘B’ Primary School, the literacy and numeracy competition was organised by the Co-Curriculum Education Department through the Akli Unit.
Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education at the Ministry of Education Mohamed Jais bin Haji Abdul Rahman was the guest of honour.
A total of 204 Year 4 students from 51 primary schools participated in the preliminary stages of the competition, where they had to sit for a written test at the Lecture Hall of the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) School of Aviation on August 13.
Each of the contestants was required to have a maximum of 420 tariff points from their Malay, English, Mathematics, Science and Physical Education mid-year examination results, with only 16 schools advancing to the first round at the Katok ‘B’ Primary School.
Out of those 16 schools, eight were chosen for the semi-finals, with four making it through to the finals held at Katok ‘B’ Primary School.
