FOUR locals and two Indonesians who doused a car on fire were presented with Community Service Award certificates by the Fire and Rescue Department.
The six men extinguished the fire on August 7 at around 1.57pm before the Fire and Rescue Department personnel arrived.
The car owned by a local caught fire at STKRJ Kampong Tungku.
Haji Mohd Esmaway bin Abdul Karim, Haji Munap bin Haji Gimban, Haji Said bin Hamid, Rosmadi bin Tilau, Supadi bin Bsaman, and Devid Andri bin Prasotyo received their certificates from Officer-in-Charge of Operation ‘A’ Branch Senior Superintendent of Fire and Rescue Noor Aflan bin Kachi.
The Fire and Rescue Department advised the public to ensure that their vehicle is in good condition and safe, ensure that there is no leakage on the pump which can facilitate the flow of flammable fluid into a hot block engine or electrical system; as well as to ensure any modifications or additions to the electric system of the engine and car accessories and wiring be in accordance with the proper standards of a qualified mechanic.
