Research, academic boost with MoUs, MoAs signing

In its continuous endeavour to achieve academic and research excellence, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) last night signed eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and two Memorandums of Agreement (MoAs) with the National Archives of Brunei and various universities from around the region.

The signing ceremonies were held on the sidelines of UNISSA’s Graduates’ Night ceremony at The Rizqun International Hotel in conjunction with the university’s 9th Hafl Al-Takharruj. Signing on behalf of UNISSA was its Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal while the universities were represented by their leaders.

Witnessing the signing ceremonies was Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman.

Apart from the National Archives of Brunei, MoUs were also signed with Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UNISZA), Malaysia; Mindanao State Universiti Iligan Institute of Technology, the Philippines; Mindanao State University General Santos City, the Philippines; Institut Agama Indonesia, Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel, Surabaya, Indonesia; and Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, Indonesia.

The MoAs were signed with Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor, Malaysia and Institut Agama Islam Negeri Pontianak, Indonesia.

UNISSA said the signing of the signings are in line with its effort to expand its strategic network outside Brunei and in enhancing its reputation in Islamic education, research, entrepreneurship and management.
