THE Belait District branch of the Information Department held the Information Youth Peer Programme (RRP) at Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School (SMPAPHRSB), Lumut yesterday morning at the school’s multi-purpose hall.
A total of 398 Years 7, 9 and 10 students of the school, accompanied by their teachers, participated in the programme.
The objective of the programme was to disseminate to the students information on the history of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the national flag and anthem. Various patriotism-related performances were also carried out during the event.
Present to oversee the programme was school principal Halizawati binti Haji Kepli, who was on hand to welcome the group from the Information Department led by the Head of the Information Department in Belait District, Pengiran Haji Ahmad Fadillah Akhbar bin Pengiran Haji Sellahuddin.
“We hope that the information delivered here today during the programme will help further develop our students in line with Brunei Vision 2035, and I advise our students to appreciate not only the information on His Majesty and the country, but also the various performances that will be conducted during the programme,” the principal said in her speech.
The programme at the school began with a series of briefings delivered by Pengiran Haji Ahmad Fadillah Akhbar called ‘Our Sultan, Appreciating the National Flag and National Anthem’, which covered the history of His Majesty, the national flag and anthem.
Several video clips called Kibarkan Bendera Negara Dengan Megah and an animation titled Tatacara Mengibarkan Bendera were also shown in between the briefings.
Various performances were also held to further enliven the day, notably a singing performance by a solo finalist for the Bintang Penerangan event, a choir performance and drama performance called Berkibarlah Bendera, both of which were carried out by students of the school, as well as a comedy sketch by staff from the Information Department.
To conclude the programme, the students were quizzed on their newfound knowledge from the briefing. Students who answered the quizzes successfully received specially prepared prizes from the Information Department.
