Police foil contraband smuggling attempts

THE Marine Police under the Operation Department of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) foiled attempts to smuggle contrabands into the country through the area of Kampong Pelambayan in the Brunei -Muara District.

Both attempts happened during the daily patrol by the Marine Police personnel.

Police personnel came across two suspicious boats at the waterways of Pulau Chermin.

After noticing the police presence, the suspicious boats made an escape and police gave chase.

The Marine Police personnel managed to capture two suspects using the boats and from the checks, 41 cartons of cigarettes of numerous brands were found.

The suspects were Md Firdaus Fadilah bin Sukry, 25, and Ashnal bin Ashria, 22. Both are unemployed.

The evidence and suspects were handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further investigation.
