His Majesty’s message stated: “The theme of the 40th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly this year, which is in line with the theme of the ASEAN Summit this year, is timely, as ASEAN member countries strive to achieve ASEAN Community Vision 2025. Towards a sustainable ASEAN Community requires support, cooperation and sharing among all parties including legal body in ASEAN.
“In pursuing the vision of ASEAN Community 2015 in developing and expanding outside ASEAN, AIPA should continue to grow more constructive in its engagement, with more effective and enhanced cooperation between their respective governments, instead of only within the circle in ASEAN, but extending beyond ASEAN.”
His Majesty’s message further said, “Through the ASEAN Leader Interface with AIPA at the 34th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok this year, ASEAN leaders and AIPA have the opportunity to discuss ASEAN work at all levels and ways to enhance cooperation between ASEAN and AIPA. ASEAN appreciates the high level dialogue and strategic partnership with AIPA.
“His Majesty is also aware of the agenda for the 40th AIPA General Assembly this year, which continues to touch on issues that can strengthen AIPA’s past developments, including those emphasised by Brunei Darussalam.
“Brunei Darussalam will continue to support AIPA’s work to achieve a common goal for the collective good of our people. AIPA will be an integral part of the plan and ASEAN’s efforts to reach a sustainable ASEAN Community.”
