His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to present state honorary medals in conjunction with His Majesty’s 73rd birthday celebration.
A total of 151 government officials, uniformed personnel and members of the private sector were awarded with state honorary medals for their dedication and loyalty in rendering services to the country at the investiture ceremony held at the Balai Singgahsana Indera Kenchana of the Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.
Also in attendance were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; and His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah.
Leading the list of medals awarded at the ceremony was the Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei, Third Class (SMB) to 25 recipients comprising 17 male and eight female recipients.
His Majesty also conferred the Most Eminent Order of Islam Brunei, Fourth Class (SUB) to seven recipients, two male and five female; 105 recipients of the Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei, Fourth Class (PSB); 55 male recipients and 50 female recipients; and the Most Eminent Order of Islam Brunei, Fifth Class (PUB) to 14 recipients, five males and nine females.
Among those receiving the honorary medals were Permanent Representative of Brunei Darussalam to ASEAN in Jakarta, Hajah Kasmalati binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Mohd Kassim and Legislative Council members Yang Berhormat Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman and Yang Berhormat Nik Hafimi binti Abdul Haadii.
The recipients comprised those serving in different government ministries and departments including the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Economy, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Ministry of Development and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as well as individuals in the business community/private sector.
Among the criteria for the medal award are praiseworthy attitude, good behaviour and undivided loyalty towards His Majesty, the nation and religion. Civil servant recipients of these medals should possess a clean record in all services with His Majesty’s Government and have a good performance appraisal for the last three years.
Also present at the ceremony were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Cabinet Ministers, members of the Legislative Council, permanent secretaries, senior government officials and members of the Diplomatic Corps.
A Doa Selamat was recited by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned to bless the ceremony.
