HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam graced the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration for 1440 Hijrah /2019 at the Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.
Also gracing the occasion were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam.
On arrival, Their Majesties and members of the royal family were greeted by the Co-Chairpersons and committee members for the Korban Sunnat of Their Majesties and members of the royal family, and for the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration at the Istana Nurul Iman for 1440 Hijrah / 2019.
Prior to the main event, Istana Nurul Iman resonated with the Takbir Hari Raya Aidiladha by 120 representatives from government departments, religious teachers, students from higher education institutions, uniformed organisations and youth associations, as well as various associations and non-governmental organisations.
The ceremony then followed with the recitation of Verses 32-37 from Surah Al-Hajj by Qari champion in the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Youth 2018 Haji Hazwan bin Haji Salim who is also a Religious Education Officer at the Islamic Studies Department under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The interpretation of Surah Al-Hajj was read by an Assistant Officer for Curriculum and Textbooks at the Islamic Studies Department Haji Muhammad Khairul Azhar bin Idris.
The ceremony then witnessed Their Majesties handing over the Korban meat to 100 selected recipients, comprising 50 women and 50 men, from all four districts.
To bless the event, a Doa Selamat was recited by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.
This year, 172 cattle and 14 goats were sacrificed for distribution among 10,277 poor and destitute people (Asnaf Fakir and Miskin) across the country.
Heads of families and their dependents receiving the Korban meat included 7,109 recipients from the Brunei-Muara District, 1,530 from the Belait District, 1,302 from the Tutong District and 336 from the Temburong District.
Around 6,000 attendees from government ministries and departments, uniformed personnel, higher education institutions, religious school students and youth associations, as well as from various organisations and non-governmental organisations, were present at the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration at the Istana Nurul Iman.
In the afternoon, the distribution of the Korban meat from Their Majesties and members of the royal family was held in all four districts.
