Improper coconut husk disposal lands woman with BND100 fine

THE Enforcement Division of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board yesterday issued a compound fine of BND100 to a permanent resident for public littering.

Wong Chui Yit was found disposing coconut husks behind a shop at Jalan Bunga Raya in Kuala Belait, violating Chapter 30, Section 12 (1) (a) of the Minor Offences Act.

She has been given seven days to settle the fine. Failure to do so would result in a further fine of BND1,000 or a month’s imprisonment, for first-time offenders.

For subsequent offences, the punishment is a fine of BND3,000 or imprisonment of not more than three months.

The Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board urged the public to comply with the regulations under the Minor Offences Act, in ensuring that the cleanliness of the environment is properly maintained.
