IBTE students learn about dangers of drug abuse

A narcotics prevention briefing was held at the Mechanical Lecture Theatre of the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Sultan Bolkiah Campus (SBC) in Seria yesterday.

The talk, an annual event organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), was aimed at disseminating to the students, information on the drugs commonly found by the NCB and how their misuse can impact negatively not only the individual, but also the society as a whole.

Some 100 students from the campus’ School of Information and Communication Technology attended the briefing delivered by NCB officer Haji Hassan bin Abdul Halim.

Haji Hassan talked about various drug-related topics, including the dangers of drug misuse among at-risk youths affected by social problems, and also explained the need for and importance of drug misuse prevention.

A question-and-answer session was held at the end of the talk for the students to clear their doubts on the topics discussed.
