A local man was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment, after he pleaded guilty to the theft of copper pipes belonging to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).

Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana binti Haji Abdul Rahman heard from Deputy Public Prosecutor Aisyah binti Lakim that the defendant, Hasan bin Haji Puteh, 53, had arranged to sell the copper pipes to a friend.

Sometime between 5pm and 5.30pm on August 28, the defendant went to the old Criminal Investigation Department (CID) building in Ong Sum Ping, where he stole five copper pipes from the attic.

Several KOPRI security personnel posted outside heard sounds from inside the building, and caught the defendant while coming down from the attic with the copper pipes.

The security personnel handed the defendant to the police.
