False police report lands man in jail

The Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate’s Court yesterday handed down a prison sentence of four weeks to an unemployed Filipino national, after he pleaded guilty to the charge of lodging a false police report.

Angelito Enad Damuag, 34, made the false report in relation of him being attacked by a group of armed man that fictionally occurred in Jalan Kianggeh, Bandar Seri Begawan.

He pleaded guilty after his hearing being read under Section 182 Penal Code Chapter 22 that giving false information that could led to imprisonment of certain period up to six month or fines.

The false report was lodged at Central Police Station in the capital and output from the investigation found out that Angelito was in the state of stress due to having no money and employment to support his family.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) reminded and warned to take actions on any individuals that lodging false report.

Consequences from the actions caused hustles to many and offenders can be charged accordingly.

The public are reminded to be more responsible in providing accurate report in relation of criminal activities.
