Day care work brings students valuable skills

The attachment at Little Gems Day Care Centre in Kampong Sengkarai enabled the three Pre-Vocational Programme students of Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School to gain valuable skills, knowledge and work experience, Principal Goh Siah Ching said.

She made these comments during a ceremony to felicitate the three students yesterday.

The three female students who completed the three month work attachment were Arissa binti Sabtu, Anisah anak Nyabang and Nurul Aziqah binti Abdullah Mohamad Sharin.

The students underwent work attachment in February, April and July. They worked from 7.30am to 12.30pm during school days.

Goh also conveyed her appreciation on behalf of the school to Little Gems Day Care Centre for providing the opportunity for the students to undergo work attachment.

The principal also expressed her gratitude to the Academic Unit, Department of Schools for assisting the school with identifying suitable work placement opportunities for Pre-Vocational Programme students and submitting the formal application on behalf of the school.

The effort by the Department of Schools was supported by the Special Education Unit.

Goh also thanked the teachers for conducting monitoring visits while the students were on work attachment.

Little Gems Day Care manager Haji Kassim bin Mohammad Yassin praised the Academic Unit, Department of Schools’ efforts in helping schools find suitable work attachment opportunities with local companies.

He hoped the cooperation between Little Gems Day Care and Department of Schools will continue.

On behalf of Little Gems Day Care Management team, Haji Kassim also expressed interest in providing work attachment opportunities for Pre-Vocational Programme students in the future as part of the business’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Currently there are four Pre-Vocational Programme students from Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School and Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna Secondary School underdoing four-month work attachment at Little Gems Day Care Lambak Branch from July 1.

A female student from Sayyidina Husain Secondary School is undergoing a three-month work attachment at Little Gems Day Care Kampong Tanjung Bunut branch from August 1.

Haji Kassim presented certificates of participation to the three students.

Principal Goh presented a certificate of appreciation and souvenir to Haji Kassim.

Deputy Principal (Administration) Eddy Nazrin bin Haji Seruji, senior education officer from the Department of Schools, officer from Special Education Unit, two teachers and management member of Little Gems Day Centre Pengiran Haji Zahari bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad and Haji Jumaat bin Salleh were also present.
