Camp raises awareness on healthy lifestyle

The Malayali Association (MA) of Brunei organised its first ‘Free Medical Health Camp’ at Learning and Development Centre, Suri Seri Begawan Hospital, Belait District last Sunday.

About 100 participants including MA members as well as members of the public turned up for health screening.

President of MA Anilkumar Pilliai expressed his gratitude towards the attendees for their support.

The event saw all attendees being screened of their BMI, sugar and cholesterol levels. Medical consultations and test results were also available.

A team of doctors from the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital also conducted a medical talk about daily health routine and associated risk factor, medical myths and facts during the camp.

The event concluded with a speech by E Satya Narayanan where he praised His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for giving the Indian community an opportunity to work in Brunei.

E Satya Narayanan also thanked Acting CEO of the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital Borhan bin Haji Hamdan, Consultant Physician Dr Dilip Thottacherry, MO General Medicine Dr Mathew T, Consultant, Cardiologist Dr Jacob Jose and the medical team for their support. Mementos were presented to them by MA committee as a token of appreciation.
