Brunei veteran shuttlers win medals at Turin meet

FOUR Brunei Darussalam’s athletes bagged medals from the European Masters Games Torino 2019 Badminton in Turin, Italy, held from July 26 to August 4.

Abdul Gapar Obey with Achuthan Siddharth of India won gold in the men’s doubles above 65 years category; silver in the men’s doubles above 60 years category with partner Foo Kon Fai of Singapore; and another silver in the team event with compatriot Nurliana Abdullah.

Nurliana also bagged silver in the women’s doubles above 60 years category with Singapore’s Bessie Foo.

Lisa Lee paired with Australia’s Jean Roxburgh to win silver in the women’s doubles above 50 years category, and bronze in the team event above 50 years with Bruneian James Luk.

James also won silver in the men’s doubles above 55 years category with partner Rohan Fernando of Sri Lanka.
