Brunei to mark new Islamic year 1441 Hijrah next Saturday

Brunei Darussalam will be observing the new Islamic year of 1441 Hijrah on the evening of August 31.

The national-level religious event will be held simultaneously at all mosques and religious halls, with special focus on the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong, the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque in Kuala Belait, the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Pekan Tutong and the Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in Pekan Bangar.

Among the main highlights will be special prayers to mark the end of 1440 Hijrah and usher in 1441 Hijrah, along with a Tazkirah.

A prize presentation to infants born on the 1st of Muharram, 1441 Hijrah will be held at the main hospitals in all four districts.

Religious talks will also be held at government ministries, departments, higher educational institutions and mosques, under this year’s theme ‘Rezeki Halal Mengundang Rahmat Negara Berkat’.
