Brunei enters Southwest Monsoon season

Brunei Darussalam is experiencing uncertain whether condition with occasional gusty thunderstorms as the country enters the Southwest Monsoon season.

A tropical storm, ‘PODUL’ was observed at 17.05°N 116.4°E, west of the Philippines, 1,343 kilometres away from Brunei Darussalam yesterday, the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department stated.

‘PODUL’ is expected to continue to move north-westwards further away from Brunei Darussalam.

There is a chance of passing gusty showers especially at sea and may affect several coastal areas in the next few days.

The wave height over the Brunei waters is expected to occasionally increase up to rough state of three metres. These strong winds and rough sea conditions are dangerous to all small craft and sea recreational activities and sports (ie swimming, jetskiing, scuba diving and others).
