The young Wasps collected their first point in a 1-1 draw against Cambodia after defeats to Malaysia, Thailand and Laos in a tough group.
The Joeys opened the lead in the 19th minute after Aiden Mostofi turned in Kane Gibbs’ low cross from close range.

Mostofi bagged his brace in the 64th minute after a cool finish in the box having being set up by substitute Adnan Segecic.
“I hope that the boys can learn from the experience and it is a good development against the biggest team in this group. We have a tough group but I’m sure we will do better in the near future,” Brunei Darussalam under-15 head coach Mohammad Ikhmarol Izzat bin Haji Omar told AFF.
He continued, “There are a lot of things to improve but I’m positive with the boys. But we will go back home and we need to work more.”
Meanwhile, Australia under-15 national head coach Trevor Morgan stressed the need for better decision-making.
He said, “I think you’ve seen in this match, the boys are learning from five matches in nine days. We need to make better decisions in the game so that we play phases of the games the way we want to.”
He concluded, “We have some time now when we go home and prepare ourselves for the Asian qualifiers and I think it is important for us to improve.”
Malaysia and Thailand played out a 1-1 draw, a result which confirmed both teams’ passage in the knock-out phase of the competition.
Indonesia and Thailand will face each other while Malaysia will meet Vietnam in the other semi-final.
