Baiduri joins AMBD in support of financial literacy

Baiduri Bank, in partnership with Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD), participated in the National Savings Day 2019 activities, conducted all over the nation.

Baiduri Bank’s involvement started with Financial Awareness Roadshows at Brunei’s higher institutions – Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).

Held in early August, the roadshows aimed to equip university students with financial management skills before they join the workforce, as well as to foster an overall healthy financial lifestyle.

During the roadshows, Baiduri Bank employed easy to understand games and conducted giveaways, to encourage students to learn simple concepts like budgeting, and planning their financials.

The events culminated in the Financial Fun Fair at Jerudong Park on August 17-18.

Carrying the theme ‘Fusion of Green and Technology’, Baiduri Bank organised games and activities for the public to enjoy.

Crowds thronged the fun fair and try their hand at the various activities on display.

The Financial Fun Fair was organised to emphasise the importance of being environmentally-friendly and for the public to realise that this concept can also be extended to daily financial transactions and decisions, which may include utilising technology.

Speaking on Baiduri’s participation in the events, Deputy CEO and Head of Retail Banking and Branch Network Pengiran Azaleen bin Pengiran Dato Haji Mustapha said, “This is the fourth consecutive year that Baiduri Bank has taken part in AMBD’s National Savings Day initiative.

“Financial literacy is important, at any age. From free consultations, to fun and interactive activities, we hope our participation can boost financial awareness among the public,” he said.

The National Savings Day is one of the ways that the bank has shown support for national initiatives to promote a savings culture.
