The management and staff of Borneo United Enterprise Sdn Bhd recently attended the Annual Audit Visit and Peer Assessment at its Training Centre in Tanjung Bunut.
Present during the event as the lead licensed assessors were Managing Director of Brunei United Enterprise Stanley Lim Hock Ghim and Janitorial Project Coordinator cum British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) Assessor Sudirman bin Awi. Also in attendance was BICSc Verifier Peter Gowers.
Borneo United Enterprise is the only BICSc Accredited Training Organisation to establish BICSc operations in Brunei. It is an internationally acclaimed standard for the up skilling of cleaning operatives.
At the end of the audit visit, Gowers said, “There’s a difference between a cleaner and a cleaning operative. A cleaner is a product and you’re cleaning operatives in the undertaking of cleaning operations.”
He also said, “Many do not realise how valuable and valued cleaning operatives are. For example, when the rubbish is not emptied, when the carpet is not done, when the tables are dirty, cleaning operatives are the first people to be phoned up. As a matter of fact, that is the purpose of these BICSc audit; we continue to ensure that these cleaning operatives are trained to an International accredited standard by the assessors.
Among the purpose of the visit is to ensure that the BICSc standards are met and the assessors’ licence gets renewed and certificate requests can be processed.
For this year’s audit, Borneo United Enterprise is recruiting four more assessors – Julioo Saguilot, Adibah Duraman, Thanakorn Phaken and Nimrhod Ollagon – to be able to train the rest of the cleaning team in BICSc accredited skills.
