Acting envoy highlights growing ties between Brunei and Pakistan

The High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Brunei Darussalam held a reception dinner in celebration of the 72nd Independence Day at the Rizqun International Hotel yesterday.

Representing His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Government as the guest of honour was Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Awang Othman, along with his spouse.

The reception began with the national anthems of both Brunei Darussalam and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, followed by the recitation of verses from Al-Quran.

Acting High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam Ahmed Ali Sirohey in his welcoming address highlighted the growing bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan through multi-sectoral cooperation.

“The Islamic Republic of Pakistan greatly values the relations with Brunei Darussalam which encompass various fields including defence, education, health, manpower and people to people contact, trade and investment.”

He also said that Pakistan is grateful to the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for hosting Pakistanis in Brunei Darussalam in various fields including health, education and commerce.The reception continued with a cake-cutting ceremony carried out by the guest of honour, the acting high commissioner and their spouses, as well as a souvenir presentation by the acting high commissioner to the minister.
