FIVE cartons and 27 packs of cigarettes believed to have been smuggled were discovered at two separate locations on Jalan Batang Duri on Tuesday by Temburong Police District officers during an operation targetting foreign workers’ quarters.
The operation, which involved 22 police officers and personnel, focussed on the screening of foreign workers in the Temburong District for contraband and items potentially used for committing crime.
Three foreign workers were arrested during the raid.
The suspects and the contraband were transferred to the Enforcement Unit of the Royal Customs and Excise Department, Temburong branch for further investigation under Section 146 (1) (d) of the Excise Order 2006.
The night operation was one of the Royal Brunei Police Force’s (RBPF) continuous efforts to combat crime to ensure the country remains safe and peaceful.
