A GROUP of seniors who used to reside at the Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) residential area in Los Batu – now a jogging track, Los Papan and Los Tanjong during their youth in the late 60s, 70s and 80s were reunited when they attended a Hari Raya reunion at Serikandi Cafe and Restaurant in Kuala Belait recently.

More than 280 members of the BSP housing group – who went by the nickname Nakhoda Ragam back in the day – attended the gathering.

It has been more than 40 years since the group left the housing area to live with their own families, with some now residing in Bandar Seri Begawan, Tutong, Miri, Bintulu and even Kuala Lumpur.

The former neighbours reminisced their time together living at the housing area during their youth and childhood, many breaking into tears as they were unable contain their feelings.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Tahlil as well as a reading of Doa Arwah led by Haji Morney bin Ahmat.

This was followed by group representative Haji Josni bin Haji Lamat delivering a brief speech in which he shared memories and thanked the event committee members for organising the reunion.

He also expressed hope for such a gathering to be held again for the group members to maintain ties.
