TABUAN consolidated their lead at the top of the NFABD Under-16 Youth League after a comprehensive 12-0 rout of PMS Junior at the NFABD Football Field recently.
Tabuan forward Md Syaheerul Affendy bin Md Syahmirul Nizam went on a scoring spree with five goals to his name. His strike partner Awangku Md Idzzaham Alwshahmezan bin Pengiran Metali was also in prolific form with a quadruple.
The Tutong based side managed to keep Tabuan at bay until the 20th minute when Md Hadif Mansur bin Haji Zulkarman finally broke the deadlock.
The breakthrough seemed to lift Tabuan’s spirits in launching an attacking assault as they scored an astonishing eight times in 17 minutes.
Amazingly, nine of the goals were scored in the opening half as only Md Syaheerul’s fifth in the game, Awangku Md Idzzaham and Ahmad Danish bin Joini breached PMS’s goal after the interval.
Awangku Hadi Ihsan bin Pengiran Hamizal also added his name in the score-sheet in the 33rd minute.
Another stroll in the park for Tabuan sets up nicely ahead of a top-of-the-table clash against the junior DPMM FC tomorrow at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.
The league leaders are not alone at the summit with the junior Gegar Gegar men breathing down their necks, behind only by an inferior goal difference.
Meanwhile in another result, DPMM FC continued their stellar form after demolishing Setia Perdana 9-1 in another lopsided affair.
Elsewhere, Bang Dalam maintained their perfect start to the season after edging FC Phosphor 1-0, who surrendered their unbeaten record.
Hawa FT notched their first win of the season after a comfortable 3-0 win over Rimba Star FC while a 1-1 draw ensured a share of the spoils for both Kota Ranger FC and Indera SC.
Bang Dalam, the only unbeaten team in the league other than the top two, look to keep in touch with the title contenders with victory over Hawa FT tomorrow.
