TWO Malaysian sisters who pleaded guilty to shoplifting were ordered to settle fines of BND600 each or serve two weeks’ jail in default of payment by the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Sumerteni binti Roslan, 35, and Nurul Arifah binti Roslan, 25, went to Supa Save, Beribi on July 4, 2019 at 2.30pm, according to DPP Syazwani binti Jumat who revealed the facts of the case in court yesterday.

Magistrate Pengiran Hazirah binti Pengiran Haji Mohd Yusof heard that the duo took two Nutella 680mg jars each while Sumerteni also took two cans of butter oil brand QBB Pure Ghee and placed them in a bag they had brought along with them.

A security guard at the supermarket noticed this and summoned them.

The duo ignored the security guard and attempted to leave the supermarket.

The security guard informed his colleagues who stopped Sumerteni at the exit while Nurul Arifah managed to leave to their car.

The security guards found two jars of Nutella and two cans of butter oil inside Sumerteni’s bag.

Meanwhile, another security guard caught up with Nurul Arifah and questioned her leading to finding that she had hidden her bag containing two jars of Nutella under the car.

The duo admitted that they had stolen the items to bake a cake and sell for profit.
