IN ANY country, unemployment is one of the biggest issues of concern to governments.
Brunei Darussalam is no exception, especially with the rising number of graduates and lack of employment. The economy has also played a part with companies having to retrench.
In this regard, Brunei needs to open her doors and invite overseas investors and open factories or enterprises which will hire or train locals.
Strict requirements can be implemented to ensure that locals are given the opportunity to operate the company.
Imagine if we have two or three major companies capable of hiring 1,000 locals. We would see unemployment statistics go down. However, even if we have overseas companies opening up shop in Brunei, local jobseekers will need to buckle down and stop being picky with jobs to ensure investors that there is merit in hiring locals.
