Malam Minggu going from strength to strength

THE 6th edition of Malam Minggu Pusat Belia (MMPB) broke the previous number of visitors on Saturday night as thousands descended onto the Youth Centre Bandar Seri Begawan for a lively night of performances themed ‘Musical Arts Festival.’

After months of rehearsals, PGS RMF Music Studio produced a youth-led orchestra comprising 60 talented musicians from various backgrounds, which delighted audience throughout the evening.

The orchestra was conducted by DSP (Rtd) Pengiran Shaiful Rezal Malek Faesal bin Pengiran Haji Marali.

The performances also included collaboration with several guest vocalists and backup dancers revealing a satisfying blend of music.

Also kicking up the volume was the Brunei Beatbox UN*TY competition, which saw 16 talented beat-boxers battle it out before a packed audience.

Other activities included a stand-up comic, drama, martial arts demonstrations, animal appreciation club, health boot-camp along with over 30 local vendors providing food and beverages to fuel festival-goers.

It also provided a platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase their products to members of the public.

MMPB is held on the first Saturday of every month with the objective of enhancing the creative industry productivity at the centre through various proactive and innovative activities led by youth.

The first MMPB attracted 800 visitors but now, the number has grown to over 2,500 visitors, which in-line with the centre’s aim to maximise the use of facilities.

Also present in support of the event was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.
