YESTERDAY’S Friday sermon reminded the people of the generosity and magnanimity of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, which is reflected in his unscheduled visits for a better look at the citizens’ welfare and interests.
“As our sovereign and leader, His Majesty strives to provide facilities to the people for their comfort, with a focus on better standards of living,” said Imams in the Friday sermon.
“As an Islamic nation that is peaceful, attractive and modern, with the people living in unity, happiness and harmony, our caring monarch continues to strengthen the foundations and policy of Islam, together with the laws of Allah the Almighty by prioritising them in accordance with Islam as the official religion of this country.
“The strong religious background and teachings in this country are the result of the wise leadership of our benevolent ruler, who has worked tirelessly in striving to rule the nation with fair legislation, rather than laws that oppress others.
“Individual rights are upheld, respected and fulfilled in accordance with Maqasid Syariah, which prioritises the five core elements in Islamic leadership to protect religion, life, lineage, property and intellect; and which has become the foundation and policy of the government in assuring the welfare and unity of Muslims and other communities living in this country.”
The sermon also reminded the people to celebrate the occasion of His Majesty’s 73rd birthday on July 15 by attending the mass Maghrib and Isyak prayers, together with recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran at mosques, surau and religious halls tomorrow to pray for the monarch’s good health and continuing reign under the guidance of Allah the Almighty.
