Instilling nationhood spirit among youth

THE Information Department through its Nationhood Unit, Nationhood and Community Division conducted the Rakan Remaja Penerangan (Information Youth Peer) programme for 182 Year 10 students of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School at the multipurpose hall yesterday.

Head of the Co-Curriculum Unit at the Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Ayup bin Haji Ghani was the guest of honour.

The school’s Principal Ustazah Pengiran Hajah Radiah binti Pengiran Haji Mohd Tahir, deputy principals and teachers were also present.

The Rakan Remaja Penerangan serves as a programme initiated by the Nationhood Unit focussing on youth at schools to disseminate current updates and activities and as an approach to get these youth to be sensitive to the current development and affairs around them.

It also serves to instil the nationhood spirit and social responsibilities among youth as well as to make the students an agent in the dissemination of positive and effective information to peers while also providing civic consciousness and state spirit, especially among youth towards the formation of positive mind and morals.

The ceremony was filled with a line-up of activities that began with the singing of the national anthem and patriotic song Bendera Negara followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat.

Assistant Information Officer Mohd Nurakram bin Noraini @ Bahrin from the Nationhood Unit delivered a nationhood briefing on ‘Our King, Appreciating Our National Flag and National Anthem’.

There was also a video presentation on Semarak Pengibaran Bendera Negara, a stage drama performance, solo singing performances from the Information Department and nationhood quiz.

The guest of honour presented prizes to winners of the nationhood quiz.
