Company in KB fined for irresponsible dumping

THE Enforcement Unit of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board issued a compound fine to a local company in Kuala Belait for offences under Section 12 of the Minor Offences Act, Chapter 30 recently.

JK Uma Sdn Bhd was issued a compound fine of BND200 for irresponsibly disposing unwanted material which included broken and rusted pieces of metal in an alleyway beside the establishment, a violation of Chapter 30, Section 12 (1) (a) of the Minor Offences Act.

The company was given a seven-day period to settle the fine, failing which it will be prosecuted in court.

If convicted, the company will be fined a further BND1,000, with a BND3,000 fine and imprisonment not exceeding three months to be handed to the owner for subsequent offences.

The Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board reminded companies and the public to properly dispose rubbish at designated waste disposal areas and not leave them in public areas. The public can contact the Enforcement Unit of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board at 8896108 to lodge complaints on the disposal of rubbish in public areas.
