BRUNEI Darussalam’s veteran athletes continued their strong showing in the region after collecting a haul of 26 medals during the Singapore Masters Track and Field Association (SMTFA) Track and Field Championship at the Home of Athletics in Singapore over the weekend.

The country successfully bagged 16 gold medals, seven silver and three bronze over the course of the two-day long veteran championship.

Eleven local veteran athletes represented the country in the championship, most of whom who had scooped numerous medals in similar veteran championships in the region.

Sanctioned by Singapore Athletics and presented by SMTFA and Moulmein-Cairnhill CSC, the competition attracted both local and overseas athletes including from Brunei, Australia, China, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

The veteran athletes have previously enjoyed similar success in the city-state during the recently held 40th Singapore Masters Athletics Championship 2019 last May.

Meanwhile, Brunei will host the Brunei Master Open Athletic Championship from July 17-18.

Entry forms can be obtained at Room 2, Brunei Darussalam Veteran Athletics Association at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
