Brunei athletes leave for downhill cycling marathon in France

FOUR athletes from the Brunei Enduro Team will represent Brunei Darussalam in the Megavalanche Alpe d’Huez 2019, a downhill cycling marathon in Huez, France from July 8-14.

Amir bin Jamin, Dillah bin Abdullah, Aziz bin Md Daud and Mohammad Fahren bin Yusra from the Brunei Enduro Team, will compete in three events: D’oz Enduro, No Chain Race and the Megavalanche DH Marathon.

They will compete alongside 3,000 participants from 34 countries, especially in the Megavalanche DH Marathon, with its mass start at 3,330 metres high on the glacier and its finish line at Allemont, 2,600 metres down, making this DH Marathon race the longest race in the world.

Amir said his intention of joining the race is to gain experience in competing against international riders and gain international exposure.

They expressed their gratitude for the support from the Brunei Darussalam Cycling Federation (BDCF).

The four left Brunei on Friday.
