BANK of China (Hong Kong) Limited (BOCHK) has made significant progress in Brunei Darussalam’s market since its establishment three years ago and is set to achieve better results than last year, its General Manager Wang Xiao Lin said.

“We are confident of this year’s results. With the increase in performance this year, we may be at the top among other Bank of China branches in Southeast Asia,” he said in an interview on the sidelines of the BOCHK’s Hari Raya open house at The Empire Hotel & Country Club yesterday.

“Bank of China will focus on corporate business in Brunei in the first four years of its operations in Brunei Darussalam,” Wang said.

The bank can only serve limited private clients due to limited human resources, he added.

On Hengyi’s Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Plant Projects expected to start operations by the year end, Wang said; “Hengyi Group can provide a huge opportunity for the bank. We will cooperate with Hengyi Group in the next stage when the operation starts.”

The general manager said, “With the increase in economies activities, Brunei will be progressing forward and we will work together step by step with the Brunei Government and the local society.”

Wang said the annual event to celebrate Hari Raya “is to show our appreciation to our clients and stakeholders for their continuous support to the bank. We will continue to provide high quality financial services in Brunei, serve the local society and help further promote the economic and trade cooperation between China and Brunei.”
