BRUNEIANS’ appetite for gaming has been on the rise recently, with talented players showcasing their skills by representing the nation in regional and competitive levels.
The status of e-sports has gain positive perception among the community, especially with the call from the government to increase local participation in professional gaming competitions.
This is especially so as e-sports is included among the lineup of competitive events at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in Clark, the Philippines, which will be held from November 30 to December 11.
To meet the demands in the market, Taiwanese PC maker Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) with local premium partners CF King Enterprise are set to penetrate the Brunei market with a slew of gaming hardware in the second half of this year.
This was emphasised by Country Manager of Asus Malaysia Leo Tseng at the ‘Asus Be Unstoppable’ campaign held in Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa, Malaysia recently.
He said Asus ROG currently holds a chunk of the gaming market in Malaysia and is now eyeing on penetrating the Brunei market by providing a full-range of gaming ecosystem.
In his observation, the gaming trends in Brunei have increased but there was still a gap in the market in terms of technology and price.
“Before, only certain people with enough budget can afford to play (games), but now more people (in Brunei) wants to play but still requires better device or technology to fulfil their gaming demands,” Leo Tseng said.
“We (with CF King) have put a lot of effort to provide end-users with new trends and products. We also see the trend of gaming (in Brunei) is increasing.
“So, my first priority for the second half (in 2019) is to penetrate the Brunei market and we (with CF King) will do it very aggressively.”
During an event held in Sunway City, Malaysia, the company showcased a wide range of their latest notebooks and desktops.
This included a new Glacier Blue colour scheme for selected gaming rigs and their highly anticipated ROG Mothership.
Dubbed the ‘desktop replacement’, the ROG Mothership is a hard-core dedicated gaming tablet.

Meanwhile, Asus also launched the aforementioned new colour option named Glacier Blue which was inspired by this season’s focus on Intelligent Cooling available for the ROG Zephyrus and the ROG Strix series.
Asus said that “though Original Black is here to stay, this year’s focus on ROG Intelligent Cooling inspired our designers to find a cool colour to complement our improved thermals.
“The result is a frosty shade that looks and feels brighter and lighter, bringing new energy to gaming laptops.”
The ROG Zephyrus S GX502 is equipped with a 15.6-inch FHD 240Hz display, Intel Core i7-9750H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 with ROG Boost up to 1540Mhz at 115W, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and a PCIE NVME 512GB M.2 SSD.
