11 students receive incentive award for outstanding achievement

THE Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) through the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA) held the AIPC-DANA incentive award presentation ceremony at the YSHHB Complex yesterday.

Eleven students registered under DANA received the award for achieving outstanding results in their public examinations last year.

The public examinations included the Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level, Brunei Religious Education Certificate (SPUB), Religious Education Primary School Certificate (SSSRU) and Primary School Assessment (PSR).

The guest of honour, Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof in his capacity as the Chairman of the DANA Board of Trustees presented the awards.

Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level student Adriana Muzfirah binti Haji Roslan received a certificate of appreciation, a laptop and printer, and BND760 to buy learning necessities for two years.

In an interview, Adriana Muzfirah, a lower six student at Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School (SMALHB), shared her studying tips before examinations. She said one should give themselves time to study and not leave it until the last minute and also, to always be prepared and not give up even if it’s challenging.

“Do your revision and not be ashamed to ask questions from teachers if you don’t understand a topic or anything,” she added.

The AIPC-DANA 2019 award for PSR was presented to Najma binti Haji Najdi, Aliyah Maisarah binti Abdullah, Shakila Diba Rakshanda binti Kaharuddin, Nawwal Najihah binti Mustapa and Nur Ain Arisha binti Md Armus.

Each student received a certificate of appreciation, one laptop and printer, and study necessities for two years worth BND400.

For the AIPC-DANA 2019 award for SSSRU, the recipients were Nurfatihah binti Abdullah Abdul Pathah, Dayangku Aleeya Maisarah binti Pengiran Dazulkipli, Nur Sarah binti Abdullah Abdul Rahman, Mohammad Amir Hamzah bin Haji Kalong and Adlina Munirah binti Haji Roslan.

Each received a certificate of appreciation, a laptop and printer and cash saving of BND500 which were credited to their DANA accounts on TAIB.

The incentive awards were presented for the 12th time to encourag and motivate the orphans to appreciate importance of education and to raise their spirits to continuously strive for their best in attaining success, especially in their studies.

The award presentation aimed to encourage orphans to value the importance of education, and acts as a motivator to continue to strive to achieve excellence in their studies.
